SNIA First Regional TWG is Chartered in India

The SNIA recently announced the formation of its first regional Technical Work Group (TWG) - the Filesystem Management Regional Technical Work Group (FSM RTWG) for India.

"Starting a TWG in SNIA India is a very important milestone for us," said PK Gupta, chairman emeritus for SNIA India, and vice chairman for SNIA South Asia. "Adding some intellectual property for the storage community is an achievement, being outside the US. The impact is significant."

The group is dedicated to supplementing the SNIA Filesystem Management TWG in developing, defining and promoting standards for filesystem-related management products, and developing supporting educational materials. The FSM RTWG for India will leverage and support management of existing file sharing standards, both remote and local, and will provide all input into SNIA architectures and specifications through the FSM TSG.

"File Systems-related activities are happening in India in many development centers of IT multinationals, so it is directly related to our geography, and there was lot of interest to add value in this area," said Gupta. "We also have plans to start additional regional TWGs in the future. The SNIA India storage development community is very excited to work with SNIA US on TWGs and thankful for their support and commitment."
