The SNIA Hosts the
Industry's Top Events in the US
As the Fall season gets underway, the SNIA continues to be a top provider
of storage events. The next industry-leading conference to be hosted by the
SNIA is the 2007 Storage
Developer Conference, being held September 10-13, 2007, at the Dolce
Hayes Mansion in San Jose, CA. Developed by the professionals at the SNIA
Technical Council, this event features an
outstanding program of 10 Tutorials, 2 Keynotes, 36 Education Sessions,
and 4 General Sessions with distinguished speakers. In addition, the Storage
Developer Conference will feature the 11th Annual CIFS Plugfest and the 3rd
Annual ISCSI Plugfest. Created by the storage industry for the storage
industry, the customer stories presented will be told personally by the
individuals who architected and built the successful systems. Attendees will
learn industry best practices, the latest updates about new standards and
technology, what to know about using open source software in projects, and
much more. To register for the Storage Developer Conference, visit

Also on the horizon is Storage Networking
World, the world's largest and foremost storage networking event, being
held October 15-18, 2007, at the Gaylord Texan Resort Hotel and Convention
Center in Dallas, Texas. As at past SNWs, the SNIA will be providing its
unparalleled tutorial education sessions - approximately 55 in number - on
today's most relevant storage topics. In another popular SNW feature, the
SNIA will once again host the Hands-on-Lab, which is organized with guidance
by the SNIA End User Council in conjunction with participating sponsors.

In addition to the upcoming events, the SNIA successfully concluded the
second annual Enterprise Information World event, held August 7-9, 2007, in
San Francisco. With a focus on the tools, technologies and strategies
essential for safeguarding corporate assets, attendees learned about
information management practices, data protection strategies and the
preservation of digital information for the long-term, all while reducing
business, legal and compliance risk.
Another recent event was the SNIA Summer Symposium, which helped set the
direction for our Committees, Workgroups and Forums. With over 60 separate
meetings, the Symposium continued its long history of bringing together SNIA
members in a face-to-face setting to work on technical, educational and
marketing projects. Meetings were held on eXtensible Access Method (XAM),
Fixed Content Aware Storage (FCAS), Object-based Storage Device (OSD), Disk
Data Format (DDF), Policy-based Storage Management (PSM), Information
Lifecycle Mgmt (ILM), File Area Networks (FAN), Security, the SNIA Grid
Taskforce and much more. Birds of a Feather (BOF) sessions were held on the
Data Integrity Initiative (DII) and Green Storage. By driving these critical
programs and projects, the Symposium helps SNIA members to advance the core
strategic goals of the SNIA.
