Join Us at the Storage Developer Conference and SNW Fall

The temperatures are cooling and that can only mean one thing: it's time for one of the most important storage events of the year! With autumn upon us, we are just days away from the SNIA's Storage Developer Conference, followed closely by Storage Networking World.

2008 Storage Developer Conference
Now in its fourth year, SNIA's Storage Developer Conference will be held September 22-25, 2008, at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Santa Clara, California. The only event created by the storage industry for storage developers, engineers, architects, and others working in the trenches, the conference will bring together more than 250 attendees to help them shorten time to market, increase acceptability and interoperability in production environments, and see the future of storage technologies.

The Storage Developer Conference's expert keynotes and feature speakers will provide "in the trenches" insights and include Jeff Barr, Senior Evangelist, Amazon Web Services; Andreas Bechtolsheim, Co-Founder, Chief Architect and Senior Vice President, Systems Group, Sun Microsystems Inc.; James Bottomley, SCSI Subsystem Maintainer, Linux Kernel; Steve Herrod, CTO and Sr. VP, Research and Development, VMware, Inc.; and Andrew Tridgell, Founder, Samba Team.

In addition to the keynotes, the more than 60 additional conference sessions will address SNIA standards work including the Storage Management Initiative-Specification (SMI-S) and the eXtensible Access Method (XAM), as well as emerging trends like Solid State Storage, Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE), iSCSI, virtualization platforms, storage security, green technologies, Server Message Block (SMB) and SMB2, and Common Internet File System (CIFS), among many others. Arrive on Monday, September 22, and take advantage of 19 new tutorials on key topics of interest to storage professionals.

As an added feature of the conference, the SNIA will host live Hands-on-Lab for Developer (HOLD) sessions, which provide attendees with the ability to test-drive the latest programs, development environments, tools, and techniques in a classroom-style setting. In addition, the event will once again include the 12th Annual CIFS/SMB/SMB2 Plugfest, this year underwritten by Microsoft.

There's still time to register for the Storage Developer Conference if you act now. Just visit http://www.snia.org/events/storage-developer2008/registration and we'll see you in Santa Clara!

Storage Networking World
Plans are also underway for the fast-approaching Storage Networking World, the world's largest and foremost storage networking event, being held October 13-16th, 2008, at the Gaylord Texan in Dallas, Texas.

At SNW, you can choose from more than 140 educational sessions, network with peers from around the globe, and visit with top solutions providers in the world's largest Expo focused on storage. SNW's vast agenda makes this event the premier conference where IT management and storage professionals learn, network, and maximize their company's storage capabilities.

In addition, SNIA will continue its tradition of providing more than 60 unparalleled tutorial education sessions, delivering reliable and practical knowledge on today's most relevant storage topics. In another popular SNW feature, the SNIA will once again host the Hands-on-Lab, which is organized with guidance by the SNIA End User Council in conjunction with participating sponsors.

New at this SNW will be the SNIA Forum/Initiative Tasting. This gathering will allow you to see - in 90 minutes, all in one large room - all of SNIA's Forums and Initiatives. Each Forum and Initiative will have representatives available to explain what their group does and answer any questions you might have about the group. There are 3 Forums and 4 Initiatives now operating within the SNIA, so you will get to see a lot in a very short time! This "open house" will take place on Monday evening right before the Welcome Reception. The location will be listed in the SNW program guide, so be sure to check it out.

Register today and join us in Dallas to stay ahead of the curve and see the future of storage networking.
