SPEAKER SUBMISSION INFORMATION

SNIA SNW Tutorials

Developed by SNIA member participants, all SNIA Tutorials are peer-reviewed by members of the SNIA. Submissions are typically, but not exclusively, made by SNIA members, including vendors, training companies, analysts, consultants, and end-users. Given the technical education nature of these sessions, some topics may be covered in multiple, successive sessions with increasing complexity. Organized by track, SNIA Tutorials are vendor-neutral and are designed to give a consensus, industry view of particular topics of contemporary concern to the industry and its customers. Tutorials are jointly owned by the SNIA and the author and are produced, branded, and delivered by the SNIA.

The next session for SNIA Tutorials will be Fall 2010 SNW, October 11 - 14 in Dallas, Texas. A call for proposals has recently been issued. For more information on how to submit your proposal or to review the categories and session topics see Call for Proposals for SNW SNIA Tutorials.

Call for Proposals for SNIA Tutorials for SNW

Conference Dates: October 11 – 14, 2010
Conference Venue: Gaylord Texan Resort and Convention Center Dallas, Texas USA

You are invited to submit a proposal for SNIA Tutorials for SNW, October 11 – 14, 2010. Produced and co–owned by Computerworld and the Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA), SNW is the largest and most proven educational forum for IT End–Users involved in storage networking, enterprise infrastructure, and data center management.

Developed by SNIA member participants and industry professionals, SNIA Tutorials are vendor neutral and peer–reviewed by members of the SNIA. Submissions are typically, but not exclusively, made by SNIA members, including vendors, training companies, analysts, consultants, and end-users. Tutorials are jointly owned by the SNIA and the author and are produced, branded, and delivered by the SNIA. Previous SNIA Tutorials presented at SNW are available from the SNIA web site: www.snia.org/education/tutorials.

Important Dates:

  • Deadline for Submission of Proposals — Monday, June 7
  • Notification of Acceptance/Rejection of Proposals — Tuesday, July 6
  • Deadline for Final Presentations — Friday, September 17

Session Topics

We are looking for submissions for SNIA Tutorials that fall into one of these interest areas that present technical and business issues within the Storage Networking Industry in a fair and unbiased, vendor–neutral manner. Answering this call simply requires an abstract submitted online with the intent to develop the abstract into a full presentation meeting the guidelines and requirements outlined below.

  • Cloud–based storage infrastructure, process, practice, and network access
  • Convergence, Consolidation, and Virtualization of infrastructure, storage devices, and servers
  • Future Directions for storage and networking technologies
  • Green Storage: conservation/minimization of resources associated with storage
  • Methods and techniques associated with information preservation and retention
  • Storage management best practices from both the user and implementer‘s (VAR, integrator, etc.) perspectives
  • Perspectives on industry trends and problems of interest to Executives within manufacturers, users, or implementers
  • Storage security best practices, standards, legal implications, and emerging areas of requirements and concern

Speaker Requirements for SNIA Tutorials

Before submitting your proposal, please note the following:

  • All presentations must be vendor neutral.
  • Presentations are prepared using the SNIA Tutorial PowerPoint template. References to vendor names, products, services and/or brand names are prohibited.
  • Proposals are reviewed and evaluated by the SNIA Education Committee, Tutorial Chair, Tutorial Track Managers, and existing Tutorial authors.
  • Given the complexity or scope of some topic areas, multiple successive sessions with increasing complexity are allowed on a single topic. Normally these abstracts are submitted separately with an indication that they are linked to or part of a combined set of submissions.
  • Acceptance of speakers is contingent upon these signed online agreements:
    • Copyright Agreement (authors and co–authors)
    • Speaker Information Audio/Video Agreement
    • FAQ for SNIA Tutorials. The FAQ addresses general questions and provides information related to developing, reviewing and presenting SNIA Tutorials. All participants must read agree and agree to these policies

Call for Proposals for SNW for the
SNIA Professional Development Track

Conference Dates: October 11 - 14, 2010
Conference Venue: Gaylord Texan Resort and Convention Center Dallas, Texas USA

This notification represents the official "Call for Proposals for the Professional Development Track of the SNIA Tutorials." Below you will find the purpose, vision, and the topics for tutorials that are currently being considered for the Professional Development Track for SNW Fall 2010.

This is a SNIA Education Committee tutorial track and will be handled separately from the current technical tutorial tracks. The Professional Development Track is a follow on to the previous Career Development sessions that have been offered at SNW. This expansion of Tutorial offerings from the SNIA provides a way for industry professionals to gain skills in communication, leadership, career, and team development.

David Deming, the Professional Development track manager, with input from previous Career session presenters and other interested track managers, will be responsible for the selection of tutorials for presentation at SNW Fall 2010.

  • Deadline for Submission of Proposals - Monday, June 7
  • Notification of Acceptance/Rejection of Proposals - Tuesday, July 6

The Professional Development Track

Purpose

The purpose of the Professional Development track is to provide education in communication, leadership, team, and career development skills for managers and technical professionals.

Vision

Our vision is to provide a unique forum for industry professionals to obtain skills that bridge the gap between people, process, and technology.

Types of topics that we are looking for and are currently being considered:

  • Coaching Skills & Practices
  • Productivity Techniques & Practices
  • Interpersonal Communication Skills & Practices
  • Creativity and Innovation Techniques
  • Team Building Skills & Practices
  • Any topic that relates to developing personal or team soft-skills

Intellectual Property (IP), Tutorial Review & Guidelines

  • IP will belong to tutorial speaker - no SNW or SNIA ownership
  • Peer review of all tutorials will be conducted by those chosen to present
  • Presenters will not use session to pitch their products
  • One PPT slide on presenters products/services/resources
