Cloud Plugfest Presentations

In general, Cloud Plugfest presentations are informal, educational and technical, discussions containing elements relating to best practices and innovations for implementing CDMI, OCCI and CIMI standards or around exposing the availability and capabilities of your standards-based implementation to plugfest participants. Presentations should cater to a technical audience.

How to submit a presentation

  •  After reviewing the guidelines below, use the Plugfest Presentation Submission Form to submit your presentations details online
  • Be prepared with: presentation title, presenter’s name(s), presentation description/abstract (100 words or less)
  • You will be contacted by e-mail within one week to accept the time slot your presentation was scheduled for
  • If you requested an additional 30 minute time slot, you will be contacted within 2 days after the submission deadline to confirm or reject the time slot offering

Scheduling

Presentation times slots will be established when the initial plugfest agenda is posted. Time slot scheduling criteria will consider foremost any overlapping times with alternate plugfest hosting sites followed by the primary plugfest location’s time zone.

Due to time zone constraints, there may be no breaks between presentations slots. Requests for a specific time slot will be considered, however, presentations will be scheduled on a first-come-first-served basis in one of the available time slots posted on the plugfest agenda. The duration of presentations shall be no longer than 30 minutes. If any timeslots remain available after the submission deadline, an additional 30 minute time slot may be allocated upon request to accommodate longer presentations (i.e. Part II) or scheduled during a non-overlapping time.

Content Guidelines

  • Design for a technical audience
  • Focus should be based on implementations of cloud standards such as OCCI/CDMI/CIMI etc.
  • Keep them short but informative
  • Allow sufficient time for questions and answers (Q&A) at end of presentation
  • 30 minute maximum time (from setup to final Q&A)
  • If you present an implementation, you may also want to give a short live demo to show the current state of the implementation regardless if there are bugs or missing features still
  • Pictures are worth many slides of bullet points; describe what you think is unique or novel
  • Do not incorporate product promotions, advertisements or marketing material in your presentation
  • Format - Use your own presentation template (PowerPoint, PDF, etc.). Corporate templates are OK.

Delivery

  • Plan to deliver you presentation via a WebEx session and/or conference call that will either be setup for the general plugfest or specifically for your presentation
  • You may post your presentation in advance to the Cloud Plugfest Wiki or present it in real time and in read-only during the WebEx session

Privacy and Distribution

  • You decide whether to post your presentation to the Cloud Plugfest Wiki before, during, or after the presentation is delivered
  • WebEx sessions and conference calls are not recorded by the SNIA
  • Though not required, we would like your permission to redistribute your presentation slides to Cloud Plugfest participants or even further. If OK to redistribute, then post no proprietary notices on the slides
