All End Users Welcome.

This pre-conference warm-up is bound to be one of the hottest rooms under the warm California sun. Join our panel and many others of our peers as we swap war stories, horror stories, successes, and lessons learned. Find out how others are successfully managing storage infrastructure complexity. What are other people thinking about the latest technology and industry buzz? What's real, what's smoke and mirrors? A 'must go' at every SNW.

End users only, no press or analysts, please. Hosted by the SNIA End User Council and Storagenetworking.org SNUG Founders

What About Interoperability?

Norman Owens

The 2006 SNIA EUC survey 'Interoperability, So What's the Problem' identified tiers of infrastructure and operations that seem most affected by complexity and poor interoperability. This presentation offers profiles of those most likely to suffer from interoperability.

  • Hear what the Voice of the End Users had to say about Interoperability.
  • Identify the tell-tale signs that there may be a name for your storage woes: Low Interoperability and High Complexity

Taming SAN Complexity

Terry Yoshii
Document not available for download

Complexity of shared storage resource environments is a challenge for both Enterprises and SMBs. Increasing complexity introduces additional integration and failure points into a SAN, which generally results in reduction of reliability and higher TCO. Complexity can be managed and contained. However, this will require key strategic decisions, tactical actions to be taken, and potential investment in tools to minimize its effects. To realize the full benefit of investments in SAN technology, regardless of company size, SAN complexity must be negotiated and tamed. Many companies have taken steps that have proven to be effective. A few of the top known best practices best will be identified in this presentation.

The Storage Utility Using SRM for Automated Chargebacks

Chris Wilson
Document not available for download

Building a successful Storage Utility requires the accurate and consistent view of all storage objects. The Verizon Business Utility Storage infrastructure leverages SRM applications to perform discovery of storage objects and provide presentation of data to internal and external chargeback systems. Automating the discovery of provisioned storage has enabled a hands-free approach to for chargeback and streamlines this process within Verizon Business lowering cost of ownership. The audience will learn what to look for in the current crop of SRM applications and how SMI-S functionality provides simplified discovery. The audience should understand where to look for data inside the SRM application and steps to perform basic information discovery.

  • Learn what to look for when evaluating SRM products
  • Features which will enable you to write your own chargeback toolkit
  • Discovery of objects to bill for
