Complexity of shared storage resource environments is a challenge for both Enterprises and SMBs. Increasing complexity introduces additional integration and failure points into a SAN, which generally results in reduction of reliability and higher TCO. Complexity can be managed and contained. However, this will require key strategic decisions, tactical actions to be taken, and potential investment in tools to minimize its effects. To realize the full benefit of investments in SAN technology, regardless of company size, SAN complexity must be negotiated and tamed.
