CIFS & iSCSI 2007 Plugfest
Sunday, September 9 - Thursday, September 13
Presentations are only half of what is going on at the SNIA's 2007 Storage Developers Conference. The CIFS and iSCSI Plugfests are also an integral part of the program.
The purpose of these Plugfests is for vendors to bring their implementations of CIFS and iSCSI to test, identify and fix bugs in a collaborative setting.
The goal is to provide a forum in which companies can develop compatible CIFS and iSCSI products. Past participating companies have included; Sun, Network Appliance, EMC, Hewlett Packard, Quantel and Broadcom.
The Plugfest Lab offers:
- The latest Windows client and server software from Microsoft including future versions of Windows
- Test suites will be provided to help verify interoperability capability on various features of the CIFS protocol and technical support from sponsoring company's CIFS engineers to look at traces and help with diagnosing problems
- iSCSI: the iSCSI initiators will be installed on the public clients for iSCSI testing as well as a SCSI test suite from SCSItoolbox
- Plugfest participants are all covered by non-disclosure agreements, and entry to the lab is for registered companies only. However, every year we open the Plugfest area to all conference attendees at an open house which allows an insider's glance at what is taking place. This year's Open House will take place the evening of Monday, September 10th
The Plugfest Network:
- There are two networks to allow cross-subnet testing. Both networks are Switched 10/100/1000 Cat5e Ethernet
- There will be a limited number of 10/100 hubs/switches available for check out from the NOC
External Internet access:
- Will be provided via a T1 line. The Plugfest network will be running in a NAT'ed environment behind a firewall. There will be DHCP on each subnet for notebook users. Wireless (802.11b/g) access will be provided in the Plug Fest lab
- The hotel also provides complimentary WiFi access in the hotel lobby
area
- Each station will have 2 drops, 1 drop on Net1 and 1 drop on Net2. The drops are labelled at the end with a piece of tape indicating which network it is on (Net1 or Net2)
- Each station is provided with a 20Amp drop with a power strip
