2010 SDC Plugfest
Presentations are only part of what is going on at the SNIA's 2010 Storage Developers Conference. The CIFS/SMB/SMB2 Plugfest is also an integral part of the program.
CIFS/SMB/SMB2 Plugfest
The purpose of this Plugfest is for vendors to bring their implementations of CIFS/SMB/SMB2 to test, identify, and fix bugs in a collaborative setting with the goal of providing a forum in which companies can develop interoperable products.
The CIFS/SMB/SMB2 Plugfest starts on Sunday, September 19 and runs through early afternoon on Thursday, September 23.
Last year’s Plugfest participants included Apple, Bluecoat, Cisco Systems, Exar, Intel, Isilon Systems, Likewise, Microsoft, NetApp, Nexenta, Quantel, Sun Microsystems, SwiftTest, Symas, ubiqx Consulting, Visuality Systems, WhipTail Technologies and the Samba Team. This year we are pleased to announce the full participation and continued support of Microsoft, our 2010 CIFS/SMB/SMB2 Plugfest underwriter. There is no participation fee; however, participants are responsible for shipping and any hotel drayage arrangements and charges, etc., regarding their equipment.
The SNIA provides and supports networks and infrastructure for the Plugfest, creating a collaborative framework for testing. The participants of the Plugfest work together to define the testing process, assuring that objectives are accomplished.
The CIFS/SMB/SMB2 Plugfest offers:
- The latest Windows client and server software from Microsoft, test suites that help verify interoperability on various features of CIFS/SMB/SMB2 protocols
- Technical support from CIFS/SMB/SMB2 engineers to look at traces and help with diagnosing problems
- As in previous years, we will open the Plugfest to all SDC attendees as an open house for an insider's view
