The charter of The Data Management Forum (DMF) is to change the way storage and storage services are perceived by customers, by elevating the importance of information and information management as central to the success of the organization.

The DMF operates three initiatives covering the areas of

• Data Protection (DPI)
• Information Lifecycle Management (ILMI)
• Long Term Archive and Compliant Storage (LTACSI)

These initiatives operate Task Forces, Special Interest Groups (SIGs), interact with SNIA Technical Working Groups (TWGs) to provide market-facing leadership on standards development.
