DMF Leadership Responsibilities
Four DMF Officers are elected from the DMF Board to drive the overall direction, messaging and operations of the Forum. Officer elections are held each year during the first meeting of the newly elected Board of Directors. Board Members are elected to serve a one-year term as an Officer.
DMF Board Chair
The DMF Chair shall preside at all meetings of the DMF Board of Directors and shall have such other responsibilities, including signing documents and performing other duties as may be requested by the Board of Directors. The Chair is the spokesperson for the DMF. The Chair oversees the Board and DMF weekly conference calls and is responsible for balancing debate on all issues before the board. The Chair is an escalation point for matters not resolved within the DMF to bring to the SNIA BOD. The Chair is responsible to ensure that a common vision for the Forum is established and that strategy and mission are aligned with that vision. The time commitment:is a minimum of 6 hours / week.
DMF Board Vice-Chair
In the absence of the DMF Chair, or in the event of the DMF Chair's disability, inability, or refusal to act, the DMF Vice-Chair shall perform all of the duties of the Chair and, in so acting, shall have all of the responsibilities of the Chair. The Vice-Chair shall have other responsibilities and perform other duties as may be prescribed by the DMF Board of Directors or the DMF Chair. The Vice-Chair, in addition to his regular duties, typically leads a Forum Committee. The time commitment is a minimum of 4 hours / week.
DMF Treasurer
The DMF Treasurer is responsible for performing the following duties:

Work with the DMF Board to create, submit and track the DMF budget with the SNIA Treasurer and controller

Track all DMF income and expenses and report monthly status to the DMF Board

Review, approve and submit all DMF expenses to SNIA for payment

Coordinate with DMF Board on fiscal year events and budgeted spend for each event

Work with the DMF Board to identify fiscal year objectives for the DMF
The time commitment is a minimum of 4 hours / week.
DMF Secretary
The Secretary is responsible for oversight of Forum contracts, development and maintenance of the Forum's operating Policies and Procedures, and recording and reporting all material workings of the Forum. The Secretary takes minutes at all meetings of the Board of Directors and the membership, with the time and place of holding, the names of those present and the proceedings thereof. The minutes shall be posted on the web in a timely fashion. The Secretary shall also give or cause to be given notice of all the meetings of the DMF Board. The Secretary shall have such other responsibilities and perform other duties as may be prescribed by the DMF Board, such as,
- Assumes the role of Chair when the Chair and Vice-chair are absent
- Serves on the Executive Committee
- Provides notice of all DMF Board and Member meetings
- Reviews all meeting minutes prior to distribution, gets minutes approved by the board and gets them distributed on the web
- Reviews, approves and forwards all SNIA DMF contracts to the SNIA Exec Board of Directors
- Maintains Governance Documents in conjunction with DMF
- Works with the DMF Board to Run Elections
The time commitment is a minimum of 4 hours / week.
