Long
Term Committee seeking Short Term Feedback
The
Long Term Storage Reference Guide Committee of the
DMF
LTACSI has undertaken a new and exciting
project: the “Decomposition of an Archive.” The
goal of this project is to identify and document
each component and the inter–dependencies within
an archive system. Currently we are seeking
feedback on the diagrams we are developing with
the hope that they will benefit many different
SNIA constituencies.
Take a look for
yourself. Be one of the first to gain early access
to our new DMF Community bulletin board website.
You can quickly register by visiting community.snia-dmf.org
and follow the instructions. At the top center of
the page, click on “Register,” if you have not
done so already. Once you complete the brief
registration information, your community username
and password will be emailed to you. Afterward,
just login, navigate to the “Long–Term Digital
Information Retention” forum, and the “Long–Term
Retention Discussion.” There you will find the
discussion thread and documents related to the
“Decomposition of an Archive.”
Our
time-line to complete these diagrams is within the
next 8–12 weeks. We are looking for a
short term commitment. We need YOUR
feedback and unique perspective to ensure our
final output is of the highest value.
You
can participate online via the DMF Community site
as described and/or call into our, working
meetings that occur every other Thursday at 1:00
PT/4:00 ET. Our next few calls are on May 22, June
5 and June 19. The conference call number is
888–453–5732 OR 719–867–4941 passcode: 705290. So
mark your calendar now – and join us!
If
you have any questions, please contact Long Term
Storage Reference Guide Committee Chair Peter
