DPI Buyer’s Guide 5th Edition entries— due by Tuesday Feb 17th

It’s that time of year again. Twice annually the DMF Data Protection Initiative produces a Buyer’s Guide providing an in–depth look at three data protection technologies — Continuous Data Protection (CDP), Data Deduplication and Space Reduction (DDSR) and Virtual Tape Libraries (VTL).

The current version, the Fourth edition, is posted online. Take a look and if you have participated in the past, all we need to know is what has changed. If you would like to your company’s product added this time around, email ebull@snia.org today, and we will send you the information you need.

This much sought–after, end-user resource has become the authoritative consolidated view of products for organizations looking to reduce complexity and improve data protection methodologies.

You don’t want to be left out of this guide!

There is no cost to participate if you are a member of the DMF. In order to update the Buyer’s Guide in time for SNW Spring in Orlando, on April 6–9, The DEADLINE for submission is Tuesday February 17th at 5pm PT.

For more information on how you can include your company’s product(s) in this guide – please email us now.

The DMF Welcomes Hifn!

This week we would like to welcome Hifn as the newest member of the DMF. Hifn offers a broad set of products that protect and optimize information while it is in–transit across the network or at–rest, stored on back–up arrays or tape devices.

Hifn is looking forward to participating in the DMF and specifically the DDSR SIG where the company feels its compression expertise and deduplication technology provide a unique perspective for this emerging market requirement.

Deduplication Hands–On–Lab planning underway

Initial planning for the NEW “Data Deduplication” Hands–On–Lab (HOL) at SNW Spring in Orlando has begun.

This HOL will guide end–user attendees through exercises that illustrate how organizations store data – first for backup and disaster recovery, and now across the entire storage ecosystem – using data deduplication technology. The goal of this HOL is to show attendees the powerful cost savings this new technology can offer as a way to augment traditional data protection methodologies.

Current participants include Data Domain and Dell. Don’t miss this rare hands–on opportunity to expose your product to end–users.

Deadlines are looming. If your company would like to participate you must sign up by February 27th. For more information, please contact HOL Project Manager, Marty Foltyn, or HOL theme lead, Daniel Budiansky.

Watch for these informative emails about twice a month with news on Data Management Forum activities and events. Comments, topic suggestions and questions are always welcome by emailing ebull@snia.org.
