INFORMATION LIFECYCLE MANAGEMENT INITIATIVE (ILMI) UPDATE - PART 3

The third recent deliverable to come out of the ILMI Professional =
Services
Task Force is a tutorial titled "The Secret Sauce of ILM: the ILM
Assessment". This tutorial was delivered during SNW Fall 2006, and =
covers
the how professional services and internal consulting figure prominently =
in
the success of ILM transformations. Yet, in the midst of success, there =
can
be a sense of hitting the ceiling, a limit, a barrier that you cannot =
pass.
A time-based path allows you to remove the barriers. The path negotiates
requirements, capabilities, practices, and maturity. This is the core of =
the
ILM consultative process. It is a blend of techno/business skill,
architect-client relations, and selecting the appropriate methodology. =

SNIA WINTER SYMPOSIUM - UPDATE

Last week in at the SNIA Winter Symposium in San Jose, CA, a series of =
very
successful meetings were held to complete the plans for the Data =
Management
Forum for the coming year. One of the highlights from last week was the
presentation of awards to volunteers who provided outstanding leadership =
to
the efforts of the Forum in 2006.

The following people received Initiative Leadership awards:

*	Amber Winans, Atempo - for her outstanding contributions to
improving the DMF external web site, including creation of the "Ask the
Experts" program, and for coordinating Data Protection Initiative =
marketing
actions=20

*	Bob Rogers, Application Matrix - for his consistent participation in
the Information Lifecycle Management Initiative, and for contributions =
to
ILM tutorials, whitepapers, and best practices=20

*	Gary Zasman, Network Appliance - in recognition of his efforts
related to the ILMI Professional Services task force and the Long Term
Archive and Compliance Storage Initiative=20


The DMF "Outstanding Service to the Data Management Forum" award was
presented to:

*	Edgar St. Pierre, EMC - for his leadership in advancing ILM
Initiative programs and for conscientious and enthusiastic participation
across all DMF Initiatives and programs=20


A special DMF award was presented on the eve of the third anniversary of =
the
founding of the Data Management Forum. The DMF recognized the founding
efforts, the visionary leadership, the countless hours of support, and =
the
many contributions made to the Forum during the past three years by:

*	Michael Peterson of Strategic Research=20
