SNIA XAM Initiative - Gaining Momentum:

The Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA) recently formed the XAM Initiative to drive adoption of its forthcoming eXensible Access Method (XAM) interface specification. The XAM specification defines a standard access method (API) between application and storage systems. The XAM interface simplifies the work of Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) who build and deliver solutions and applications requiring long-term storage of unchanging information.

The DMF is working closely with the XAM Initiative to define how XAM and other SNIA technologies relate to industry best practices for long-term digital information retention. If you represent a storage vendor, independent software vendor, or end user interested in resolving the critical storage migration challenges for electronic archives, this is your chance to get involved and make a difference.
