100 Year Archive Requirements Survey Report
- Now Available to DMF members:
"Digital
information is at risk of being lost." That is the warning from 276 long-term
archive practitioners who participated in the DMF's 100 Year Archive Task Force
(100YrATF) Requirements Survey. The 100YrATF is pleased to announce the completion
of their final report which captures the operating practices, requirements and issues
facing organizations managing large amounts of information. The study aims to provide
a better understanding of market requirements so that the task force can frame a
definition of best practices and technology solutions.
Public promotion of this study will begin in early August, but the entire report
is available for download by DMF members at www.snia-dmf.org/100year.
100 Year Archive Glossary - Submitted for
Review:
One
of the next steps identified in the 100 Year Archive Requirements Survey Report
is the submission of a Glossary of working definitions and terms associated with
long-term information retention to the SNIA. A draft version of this Glossary is
available for review and comment for a limited time. This is another great opportunity
to get involved and add your input to this very important document.
All comments and suggestions are welcome. It can be downloaded by visiting http://advisorygroups.snia.org/apps/org/workgroup/100yrarchive/documents.php.
