Storage Management Initiative (SMI) – Technology Programs

SNIA is a catalyst for technology programs focused on specific technologies and customer issues. To learn more, visit SMI or select from the key SMI technology programs listed here:

  • The Storage Management Initiative-Specification (SMI-S) is a standard designed with the purpose of standardizing and streamlining storage management functions and features into a common set of tools that address the day-to-day tasks of the IT environment. SMI-S Technical Work Groups, under the direction of the SNIA Technical Council, develop SMI-S.
  • SMI-Lab Program is an industry-wide collaborative program that helps companies accelerate the development and implementation of SMI-S based Client and Provider products from SNIA member companies.
  • SNIA Conformance Testing Program (CTP) for SMI  manages and develops test suites that ensure conformance to industry standard specifications like SMI-S. CTP is an integral step towards bringing third party standards conformance to the marketplace.
