SNIA-CTP Keywords And Definitions A and A: A term for the Application and Agreement. This is a legal form that outlines the parameters by which a test must be performed. Base Test: A test for the combination of of a SMI-Provider test release and a vendor's provider stack. Base tests are generally required when a vendor significantly upgrades their provider or when a provider is unchanged but a new test harness is to be tested against. Client: An intelligent device or system that requests services from other intelligent devices, systems, or appliances. Interim Release: A release of a SNIA-CTP test that is intended to be used by developers to test their abilities against upcoming functionalities. Interim releases are not used for official conformance testing. Multiple interim releases may be produced between official releases. Number of Conformant Hardware Products: The number of individual hardware product models that are conformant to a given test area. The list of models is provided by each participating company based upon their software which was tested. A particular model will only be counted once if a particular software is tested more than once in a given test area. Number of Conformant Software Products: The number of different software products which were tested in a given test area. The products are differentiated by name. Names are associated with either a provider (element manager) or with a client such as an SRM tool. Many companies will test more than one software product. Number of Conformant Software Product Versions: The number of versions of software products tested in a given test area. Some vendors may only test one version of their software against an SMI-S test area. Some vendors, however, test multiple versions of their software against an SMI-S test area. Number of Participating Companies: The number of companies that tested their software in a given test area. Number of Tests Completed: The number of test results submissions for a given test area. Official Release: A release of a SNIA-CTP test that is used for official conformance testing. Off-Site Test: A test which is perfromed at other than SNIA facilities. On-Site Test: A test which is performed at SNIA facilities. Profile: A profile is a vertical slice through a standard containing physical, logical and behavioral elements required for interoperability. RFC: An acronym for the Request For Conformance Testing Form. This form is an order form for the testing process. SMI-S 1.0 Client Test: A test for SMI-S version 1.0.X enabled clients, such as SRM software, to determine their conformance to the SMI-S version 1.0.X. SMI-S 1.0 Provider Test: A test for SMI-S version 1.0.X enabled providers, or element managers, to determine their conformance to the SMI-S version 1.0.X. SMI-S 1.1 Client Test: A test for SMI-S version 1.1.X enabled clients, such as SRM software, to determine their conformance to the SMI-S version 1.1.X. SMI-S 1.1 Provider Test: A test for SMI-S version 1.1.X enabled providers, or element managers, to determine their conformance to the SMI-S version 1.1.X. Subprofile: A structure within the SMI specification that defines the behaviour of an optional subcomponent of a profile. Examples of subprofiles are Access Points and Software.
