Storage Management Initiative (SMI) Technical Activities
Guided by the SNIA Technical Council, a select group of acknowledged industry experts, the SMI Governing Board directs various SMI technical activities.
Specification Activities (SMI-S)
SMI currently directs development of the Storage Management Initiative (SMI-S) and Management Frameworks specifications. Technical Workgroups (TWGs) collaborate on spec development. These TWGs consist of volunteers from the SNIA membership who collaborate to develop vendor-neutral technical solutions. See list of SMI-S TWGs.
SNIA Conformance Testing Program (CTP) for SMI-S
The SNIA Conformance Test Program (CTP) manages and develops test suites that ensure conformance to industry standard specifications like SMI-S. CTP is an integral step towards bringing third party standards conformance to the marketplace.
SMI-Lab Program
The SMI-Lab program is an industry-wide collaborative program that helps companies accelerate the development and implementation of SMI-S based Client and Provider products from SNIA member companies.
SMI-S Developers Group
The SMI-S Developers Group was created to ensure the success of the Storage Management Initiative (SMI). This Yahoo group assists SMI developers worldwide in implementing the SMI Specification (SMI-S) from project conception to product delivery.
