Welcome to the SNIA, advancing IT technologies, standards, and education programs for all IT professionals. Made up of some 400 member companies and nearly 7000 individuals spanning the global storage market, the SNIA connects the IT industry with end-to-end storage and information management solutions.

As a not-for-profit association, the SNIA enables our members to develop robust solutions for storing and managing the massive volumes of information generated by today’s businesses. For more than a decade we have worked to bring recognition of storage issues to the IT world, making storage less complicated for the end user. As a result, the SNIA has adopted the role of industry catalyst for the devel­opment of storage solution specifications and technologies, global standards, and storage education.

From vendors, to channel partners, to end-users, SNIA members are dedicated to providing the industry with a high level of knowledge exchange and thought-leadership. Our members also share a common goal: To promote acceptance, deployment, and confidence in storage-related architectures, systems, services, and technologies, across IT and business communities.

Highlights from Spring 2008 Storage Networking World (SNW)

The SNIA, along with its partner, Computerworld, held another successful SNW April 7 - 10 in Orlando at a new SNW venue, The Rosen Shingle Creek. Attendance exceeded expectations, and the scale and proportion of the resort provided ample room for attendees to comfortably enjoy over 140 educational sessions, including some 60 SNIA tutorials (view each and every one here!). The Hands-on-Lab, Certification Center, the new Tech Edge program, and the ever-popular Expo area drew strong strong crowds and allowed end users to bolster their knowledge and leverage significant networking opportunities. FarSighted readers should stay tuned for an in-depth article on Spring SNW in the upcoming June issue.

The SNIA had a busy SNW. We welcomed regional affiliates from around the globe, ran or hosted numerous educational programs, maintained a consistent booth presence (along with our Forums and Initiatives), and participated in numerous press and analyst discussions. SNIA made three announcements at SNW (visit the pressroom for more details) focusing on our progress around XAM, Long-Term Data Retention and Protection, and Green Storage. SNW Fall 2008 in Dallas

Although only 2 weeks have passed since Spring SNW, preparations are well underway for Fall SNW at the Gaylord Texas in Dallas, October 13 - 16. We encourage you to participate in the Call for Presentations but act now as the submission date closes on May 9th. Sponsorship opportunities are also available.
