SNIA Technology Center Champions Program to support new tech center location
HP, LSI, and NetApp Provide Leadership Gifts for ArrowsWest Facility at LSI Location
"SNIA Technology Center Champion: Founders Level" Category Added
In the past three years, SNIA’s Technology Center Champions Program (TCCP) offered vendors in the data storage and networking industries the opportunity to showcase their solutions and help advance the storage industry as a whole, while simultaneously reaching their technology, marketing, and publicity goals. Since 2006, over $1.5 million in corporate contributions have been by organizations to this SNIA program.
The SNIA is announcing a new category of donations in conjunction with its facilities relocation to the ArrowsWest/LSI facility in Colorado Springs. Entitled SNIA Technology Center Champion: Founders Level, this new designation highlights the contributions made by SNIA companies to enable the deployment of new and updated technologies at the new Tech Center.
"We're delighted to announce that HP, LSI and NetApp have already stepped up in the very infancy of this new category offering, providing much-needed gifts that will enable SNIA to launch the relocated Tech Center more effectively", said Leo Leger, Executive Director of the SNIA. "HP offered a very generous donation of whatever furniture, networking equipment, and infrastructure we were using at our present location that could be utilized at the new facility. We move in completely ready to host meetings, provide hosting and testing services, and offer hands-on certification training on Day 1."
NetApp is providing brand-new storage to support the internationally-reknown I/O Traces, Tools, and Analysis website hosted at the Technology Center. "We are thrilled that NetApp, a long-term Tech Center champion and already a supporter of the IOTTA website, has stepped up with a contribution of brand-new storage that will provision about 20TB for the IOTTA website," said Leger. "This website has end-users worldwide as regular contributors, and is the largest open-source repository of its kind in the world. This contribution allows the site to continue to grow and provide a much-utilized resource for research for a global community, and we appreciate the leadership of NetApp as a Tech Center Founder contributor."
"With respect to LSI, said Leger, "their contribution is immense. In addition to allowing SNIA to lease this facility for below-market rates, LSI is generously providing the services of a full-time project manager to coordinate all the build-out of the new facility. This gift is not only a practical help in getting our facility ready, but represents a generous gift of thousands of dollars of experienced project management support. thanks to LSI, we'll get things done right, on time, and on budget. SNIA is immensely grateful to LSI for this generous donation."
Immediate needs for the new facility include:
- High-speed Ethernet/Fibre Channel switches and infrastructure equipment
- Network storage arrays to support hosting and software development environments
- Wire management, data center equipment, and professional services in support of the new Technology Center
- New rack-mounted servers, virtualization software, other IT hardware
