New SSIF Guide
Provides Roadmap for Data-At-Rest Solutions
The
eagerly awaited SSIF Solutions Guide for
Data-At-Rest describes the factors and
solutions you should consider when evaluating
storage security technology and solutions that
focus on data privacy, integrity, availability,
and liability.
The Guide first reviews
various methods for mitigating security threats
related to loss of physical control of storage
media including both the scope of available
solutions and the various implementation choices
that exist. A matrix that compares and contrasts
the available solutions is accompanied by a
summary of each of the SSIF member's solutions to
provide you with information to assist you in
making a product decision.

Expanded Best
Current Practices for Storage Security Now
Available
A
defense-in-depth security strategy is becoming
increasingly realizable as more data security
measures become available. Storage security can be
an effective element of this strategy, and in many
cases, is truly the last line of defense.
Prepared by the SNIA Security Technical
Working Group and given SNIA Technical Document
status by the SNIA Technical Council, the latest
revision of the Storage Security Best Current
Practices provide broad guidance to
organizations seeking to secure their individual
storage systems as well as their storage
ecosystems.
New BCPs address
virtualization in creating risk domains, legal
practices for data security compliance, and
encryption issues. Content is designed to be
usable by practictioners, IT architects, IT
managers, and corporate executives (CIPs and CSOs
in particular). Visit www.snia.org/ssif
and click on Guidance and Best Practices
for your copy.
