News: DNA Stability Evaluation Specification Available for Public Review The genetic code of mammals has been successfully recovered from fossil DNA over 2 million years old. However, when DNA is used to encode digital data stored in manufactured DNA Containment Systems (DCS) from different vendors, each offering different cost/benefit tradeoffs and durability properties, there is a need to compare the durability claims from these vendors. A new standard from the DNA Data Storage Alliance, Data Stability Evaluation Method for DNA Data Storage Containment Systems, aims to enable an “apples-to-apples” comparison of DCS durability claims. A pre-release version of the standard is available for review and comment on the SNIA Technical Work for Public Review page.

The DNA Data Storage Alliance is a SNIA Technology Affiliate.
