SNIA Swordfish Tools Showcased at SM Lab Plugfest

SNIA’s Storage Management Initiative would like to give a shout out to Sachin Desai, cloud architect, Cisco, and SNIA’s own John Crandall for their willingness to go above and beyond to help make the SM Lab plugfest in January a big success.

Sachin and John responded to a call for help at the last minute to be on hand and show plugfest participants how to install, configure and troubleshoot the SNIA Swordfish Basic Client and Emulator development tools.

If you couldn’t attend the plugfest or missed our recent webcast, watch on-demand to learn more about the SNIA open source tools for speeding your implementation of Swordfish. Interested in being a part of the next SM Lab plugfest to collaborate face-to-face with your peers on interoperability testing and gain valuable feedback? Send an email to

Kubernetes in the Cloud
May 2, 2019
Matt Baldwin, the founder of Stackpoint Cloud and NetApp; Ingo Fuchs, Chief Technologist, Cloud and DevOps, NetApp; Mike Jochimsen, Director of Alliances, Kaminario
Kubernetes (k8s) is an open-source system for automating the deployment, scaling, and management of containerized applications. Kubernetes promises simplified management of cloud workloads at scale, whether on-premises, hybrid, or in a public cloud infrastructure, allowing effortless movement of workloads from cloud to cloud.

This webcast will introduce Kubernetes and present use cases that make clear where and why you would want to use it in your IT environment. We’ll also focus on the enterprise requirements of orchestration and containerization, and specifically on the storage aspects and best practices, discussing:

  • What is Kubernetes? Why would you want to use it?
  • How does Kubernetes help in a multi-cloud/private cloud environment?
  • How does Kubernetes orchestrate & manage storage? Can Kubernetes use Docker?
  • How do we provide persistence and data protection?
  • Example use cases
