The SNIA DNA Data Storage Alliance Community has reviewed biosecurity requirements for DNA data storage in the context of existing regulatory policy for DNA Sequences of Concern in the health and life sciences. This document provides background on current DNA biosecurity regulatory policy, explains the differences between biosecurity needs for DNA data storage vs. for health and life sciences applications, and offers guiding principles and a proposed framework for approaching regulatory policy for DNA data storage.
