SNIA Swordfish™ 1.2.4a Specification Now an ISO Standard
|
|
SNIA’s Storage Management Initiative (SMI) SNIA Swordfish™ has achieved a milestone by gaining accreditation from the International Organization for Standardization (ISO®) for Swordfish v1.2.4a, which has been published as ISO/IEC 5965:2023. The new ISO-accredited version replaces ISO/IEC 5695:2021, adding significant functionality to manage NVMe® and NVMe-oF™. With the ISO accreditation, Swordfish gains additional credibility and trust, making it easier for businesses to adopt and integrate the standard into their storage environments. This achievement reinforces SNIA and SMI's commitment to advancing industry standards and driving innovation in storage technologies. Visit snia.org/swordfish.

Data Fabric: Connecting the Dots between Structured and Unstructured Data
Wednesday, June 28, 2023
Joseph Dain, IBM; Michael Hoard, Intel
Data Fabric is an architecture, set of services and platform that standardizes and integrates data across the enterprise regardless of data location (On-Prem, Cloud, Multi-Cloud, Hybrid Cloud), enabling self-service data access to support various applications, analytics, and use cases. The data fabric leaves data where it lives and applies intelligent automation to govern, secure and bring AI to your data.
NVMe/TCP: Performance, Deployment and Automation
Wednesday, July 19, 2023
Erik Smith, Dell Technologies; David McIntyre, Samsung
Since its ratification in late 2018, NVMe/TCP has gained a lot of attention due to its great performance characteristics and relatively low cost. Since then, the NVMe/TCP protocol has been enhanced to add features such as Discovery Automation, Authentication and Secure Channels that make it more suitable for use in enterprise environments. To better evaluate options and considerations for adopting NVMe/TCP we’ll answer questions like:
- How does NVMe/TCP stack up against existing block storage protocol of choice in terms of performance and cost?
- Should a dedicated storage network be used when deploying NVMe/TCP or is a converged network okay?
- Can you automate interaction with an IP-Based SAN?
