Open Compute Project (OCP)

OCP

Founded in 2011, the Open Compute Project (OCP) drives open, interoperable hardware designs and best practices for scalable data center infrastructure. Through collaborative engineering across servers, storage, networking, racks, and power, OCP enables multi-vendor ecosystems that improve efficiency, sustainability, and performance—helping hyperscalers and enterprises deploy cost-effective platforms optimized for AI, cloud, and high-performance workloads.

SNIA and the Open Compute Project formed an alliance to align vendor-neutral standards with open hardware specifications, ensuring interoperable, scalable infrastructure for modern AI and cloud deployments. By coordinating storage, memory, and data management standards with OCP platform designs, the partnership reduces integration friction, accelerates ecosystem adoption, and enables operators to deploy high-performance systems with greater efficiency and multi-vendor flexibility.

The SNIA Compute, Memory, & Storage Initiative (CMSI) Marketing Committee is responsible for planning and managing CMSI related marketing, PR activities and events and activities (e.g., requirements collection).

his committee manages a budget and activities to support web training/demonstrations, trade show attendance and messaging, and CMSI related outbound communications. CMSI Marketing Committee has access to SNIA Marketing tools, including mailing list of 40K+ individuals, webinars, educational library, and other industry marketing materials.

This relationship will be focused on joint marketing efforts, specifically between the CXL Marketing Work Group and the SNIA/CMSI Marketing Committee.
