SNIA Announces Leadership Team for 2016

SNIA is pleased to announce its 2016 Board of Directors: David Dale (NetApp) - Chairman, Jim Pappas (Intel) - Vice-Chairman, Thomas Rivera (Hitachi Data Systems) - Secretary, Al Zmyslowski (Fujitsu America) - Treasurer. Along with Wayne Adams (EMC) - Chairman Emeritus and Leo Leger (SNIA) - Executive Director, these six will constitute the SNIA Executive Committee.  Jim Williams of Oracle was elected as a new Board Member. See profiles of the 2016 Board. Technical Council: Mark Carlson (Toshiba) - Chairman and Bill Martin (Samsung Electronics) - Vice Chairman. See profiles of the 2016 Technical Council.

DSI Call for Presentations Now Open

The third annual Data Storage Innovation Conference (DSI) will be held at the Marriott San Mateo, CA, June 13-15, 2016. February 5th, is the deadline for the Call for Presentations. The DSI 2016 Sponsorship Brochure is also now available. 

New Survey to Better Understand SSD Data Recovery and Erase Requirements

Data recovery and erase capabilities are essential to today's SSD consumers.Continued understanding of requirements is critical for storage manufacturers to prioritize development projects. A new survey by the Solid State Storage Initiative Data Recovery/Erase Special Interest Group seeks your responses to advance both manufacturer and customer knowledge in this important area. SNIA Dictionary: Call for Terms and Updates Deadline is February 1st

The next revision cycle of the SNIA Dictionary is starting; therefore, we are issuing a call for new terms and corrections. The deadline for submission for the next printed edition (v2016.1) is February 1st. Submissions can be made through the SNIA Dictionary submittal form.

Please note that even though the dictionary is only updated twice a year (print and web), submissions for new terms and corrections to the dictionary are accepted anytime. If you have any questions please contact: Arnold Jones.

The 2016 SNIA Annual Members' Symposium will take place at the Westin San Jose, CA, January 19-22, 2016.  Registration and special hotel rates are now available. The agenda will be published soon. See you in January!

SNIA Revamps its Recognition Program and Opens its Call for Nominations

SNIA has revised its Recognition Program to select and recognize the contributions of its members in 2015.  Honorees will be announced and recognized at an evening reception on January 20th at the Annual Members' Symposium in San Jose.  Revamped categories and a new nomination process are being introduced for this year's program.  The nomination process is simple and fast.  Please take a few minutes to participate -- it’s so important that our valuable volunteers be recognized for their efforts.  Nominate your colleague today!

The Storage Management Initiative (SMI) will hold their next SMI-Lab Plugfest event in New York City December 7-10, hosted by Microsoft. Topics will include what each Client company requires for SMI implementations, analyzing what Clients are missing, discussing the new infrastructure requirements and changes in SMI-S 1.7, as well as status meetings and valuable partner interactions. Led by the Solid State Storage Initiative (SSSI), our Fourth NVM Summit, currently planned to be themed Convergence of Storage and Memory Developing the Needed Ecosystem will be co-located with the Annual Members’ Symposium in San Jose on January 20th.  Underwritten again this year by the SSSI and Intel, attendance for qualified attendees is complimentary. Register ASAP as there is a seating capacity limit. This one-day event has proven to be a "standing-room only" event.
