Marília Menossi

Researcher

Lenovo/IPT

Marília is a materials engineer and researcher at the Institute for Technological Research (IPT) in Brazil. She works with research and development of new products and processes in materials and chemical engineering. She has experience in synthesis and characterization of materials and nanomaterials, focused on polymers, and in the polymerization/esterification processes. She recently joined the research group related to DNA Data Storage at the same institute, in partnership with Lenovo, studying the DNA chemical synthesis, surface modification for the growth of these molecules, and the miniaturization of the process in microfluidic devices.

DNA data storage: Coding and decoding, an experience from a Brazilian research center

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

Synthetic DNA-based data storage is a major attraction due to the possibility of storage over long periods. This technology is a solution for the current data centers, reducing energy consumption and physical storage space. Nowadays, the quantity of data generated has been growing exponentially, while the storage capacity does not keep up with the growth, caused by new technologies and globalization.
