Improve data, network and physical security. He also works to help teams across HPE develop pragmatic techniques for machine learning, data access and building very large-scale systems. He has a long history building startups in machine learning and large data systems including MapR, Veoh Networks, ID Analytics and MusicMatch. He also has a strong background in open-source software, serving on the board of directors at the Apache Software Foundation and the Presto project at the Linux Foundation. Ted’s primary focus is on developing technologies that are groundbreaking but also simple enough to understand, deploy and maintain over the long term. This focus has resulted in new techniques for recommendations, fraud and error detection, and data sketches. His recent work is on building systems that allow coherent data security across different storage and identity platforms Ted has a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Sheffield, UK. He is co-author of more than 10 books focused on data sciences. He has over 25 patents related to recommendations, search, coding theory, data storage and streaming data.
