SNIA Cloud Object Storage Test Tools - Foundation for Heterogeneous Multi-Vendor Interoperability

SNIA has created a collaborative Cloud Object Storage (COS) industry community to drive multi-vendor heterogeneous interoperability test events (Plugfests), and participants identified an obvious pain point in the industry - the need to develop automated COS interoperability test tools.  SNIA COS community efforts help empower developers to share best practice around latest challenges, gain consensus on resolution and find bugs before customers find them.  Discussions and presentations enable developers to grow their peer network, expand awareness on usage and gain access to expertise, as well as participate in community consensus defining common baseline level API support.  With this community, SNIA member companies intend to create and publish compatibility test software suites that help automate protocol compatibility testing of widely popular industry Cloud Object Storage APIs, wire-protocols and services.  These experts will discuss the real-world need for COS heterogeneous multi-vendor interoperability test tools, and progress to date from the initial stages of SNIA member feedback and calls to action.

SNIA Cloud Object Storage Test Tools (Open-Source Software Project)

During SNIA's Cloud Object Storage multi-vendor compatibility Plugfest held at SDC’24, it became apparent to the community during three days of testing that a lack of commonly accepted open source test tools is one of the more obvious pain points for the industry. All contributors test our implementations and all mature well accepted protocols conduct regularly scheduled Plugfests along with proactive development of open source test tools to get the job done. With this new effort, SNIA member companies intend to create and publish compatibility test software suites that help automate protocol compatibility testing of widely popular industry Cloud Object Storage APIs, wire-protocols and services.

These experts engaged in proprietary and/or open-source software development will discuss the real-world need for these test tools, and progress to date from the initial stages of SNIA member feedback and calls to action.
