David Slik is a data storage researcher at the Huawei Canadian Research Institute. Before working at Huawei, he was a Technical Director at NetApp and a co-founder of ByCast, where he led the development of StorageGRID. He has 20+ years of experience in the design, development and productization of high-performance distributed storage systems, resulting in over 75 granted patents. David is an author of two ISO/IEC standards, a contributor in five other storage industry standards organizations, and chairs the Cloud Storage Technical Working Group at SNIA.

CDMI-enabled Web Applications
The SNIA Cloud Data Management Interface (ISO/IEC 17826) provides a rich set of functionality for data and namespace management. As an HTTP-based RESTful interface, CDMI allows for easy integration into web-based applications. This presentation describes the steps required to natively use CDMI from a JavaScript-based web application, and discusses how standardization work underway to enable the management of S3-style buckets also enables web-native data management applications to be delivered by a CDMI server.
