MAY 2007 ARCHIVES
Welcome to the May 2007 FarSighted Newsletter
From Vincent Franceschini, Chair, SNIA Board of Directors
As I welcome you to the second issue of the new and improved FarSighted newsletter, I'm happy to say that the new format is a hit. In addition to the positive comments we've received, there have been hundreds of new subscribers who have signed on since our last quarterly issue.
In this edition's Only in FarSighted section, you'll find unique perspectives from Tom Clark on "Going Green" and from Robin Harris, of Data Mobility Group, on Object-Based Storage Devices (OSD). In "How to Get Storage Planning and Acquisition Right ," Dr. Kevin McIsaac, of the Australia-based Intelligent Business Research Services, provides useful insights into how to plan ahead for adding storage capacity. Also in this issue, learn more about the key results from the SNIA End User Council's recently released survey report, titled Storage Interoperability: So What's the Problem?
With deep insights into the important news, activities and deliverables coming out of the SNIA, the Spotlight on SNIA section features an article on the addition of our new executive director, Leo Leger, who will help us continue to increase the value we bring to our members, as well as the entire industry at-large. It was my pleasure to introduce him in his new role at the recent Storage Networking World (SNW), and it was fitting that the introduction took place at this premier storage industry event, which Leo - in his previous position with IDG's Computerworld Strategic Programs and Events group - helped the SNIA build.
Also in this issue, find out how you can get involved with the SNIA's recently announced XAM Initiative and SNIA Task Force on FANs. In other news, the SNIA Storage Networking Certification Program (SNCP) has just certified its 2,000th professional, and Enterprise Information World 2007 is once again shaping up to be the premier event on information management and the evolving data center - we invite you to join us at this exciting conference.
