SNIA Swordfish® v1.2.9 Working Draft
SNIA Storage Management announced the Swordfish v1.2.9 Working Draft Bundle is now available for public download here. Additionally, a new repository is now available. View the Swordfish-Publications’ Repository on GitHub

The SFF TWG has published the following specification updates:

Enterprise and Datacenter 1U Short Device Form Factor (E1.S) (SFF-TA-1006 R2.0)
Defines mechanical attributes and multiple thickness options of a 1U short form factor device that fits vertically in 1U rack-mounted host systems. This revision modifies the 9.5 mm thickness device to support both air cooling and Direct Liquid Cooling (DLC). 

Universal 4/8X Pinouts (SFF-9400 R1.1)
Outlines a set of connector pin signal definitions for an internal cable interface. The definitions are designed to prevent physical damage while supporting functionally incompatible applications, such as SAS‑3, SAS‑4, and PCIe®.

Plugfests

SNIA SMB3 Interoperability (IO) Lab EMEA
SNIA is pleased to host the 2026 SNIA SMB3 IO Lab EMEA, April 21–23, in Goettingen, Germany, immediately following SambaXP April 20–21, 2026.
The IO Lab provides a collaborative forum for vendors to test SMB3 implementations, identify and fix issues, and work together toward interoperable products.

Help Shape the 2026 SAS Plugfest
The SNIA STA Community is planning a SAS Plugfest, tentatively scheduled for the week of September 28 in Santa Clara, alongside SDC’26. SAS manufacturers are invited to share interest and help shape plans.

SNIA Cloud Object Storage Plugfest Expands Online
The SNIA Cloud Object Storage Plugfest program has expanded online. In addition to our face-to-face Plugfest at SDC’26, we will host 3 online Plugfests to expedite interoperability testing among cloud object storage solutions. The first online Plugfest starts on February 9.
