The SNIA Emerald™ Program provides a variety of training materials addressing the SNIA Emerald™ Power Efficiency Measurement Specification, performing tests based on the Measurement Specification, and preparing and submitting test results.
Note: SNIA Emerald™ Power Efficiency Measurement Specification V3.0.3 is an editorial update of V3.0.2 with some corrections and clarifications. Training materials developed for V3.0.2 are fully applicable to testing based on V3.0.3. Training materials developed for V3.0.2 are also fully applicable to testing based on ISO/IEC 24091:2019 Information Technology - Power efficiency measurement specification for data center storage.

SNIA conducted SNIA Emerald™ 3.0 training as a series of six 4-hour webinars in February-March 2018.
The topics, content, and flow follow the comprehensive training plan for V2.0.2, with the focus on V3.0. Emphasis is on the File IO test methods and tools, since this is new to the SNIA Emerald™ Specification V3.0. Block IO is covered in a refresher fashion, attendees were expected to become familiar with V2.0.2 and V2.1 training materials as a background that V3.0 builds upon. There will be no hands-on-lab training.
Slides, recordings, and other materials from the training sessions are available below. Recommended preparation for the final 3 sessions is given following the agenda below.
To characterize the sessions, the first three sessions are primer and program “what is it”; the final three sessions are technical “how to”.

SNIA GSI/Green TWG is deeply appreciative of the time and efforts of the following SNIA Emerald Version 3.0 Training Program contributors and presenters. The training program experience, materials, tools, and training session recordings enable the global industry to move forward with ongoing and expanded storage system power measurement testing and reporting with the EPA Energy Star Data Center Storage V1.1 Program.
A webinar of two 3-hour sessions was conducted on July 20-21, 2015. Slides and materials from this sessions are available. The first session covered the technical details of the SNIA Emerald™ V2.1 Specification and supporting test tools. The second session covered the program details for SNIA Emerald™ Programs, USA EPA EnergyStar Program, and supplementary information on testing services and certifying body services.
Slides and videos of presentations from SNIA Emerald™ training provided at the SNIA Technology Center in Colorado Springs, CO USA during the week of July 14, 2014 are available. The event was attended by Storage vendor companies' test and measurement engineers, independent industry labs participating in the USA EPA Energy Star Data Center Program and offering SNIA Emerald™ testing services, and EPA recognized certifying bodies for the Data Center Program.
