Abstract: 

This session will demonstrate the methodology and principle of using Quartz Glass for long-term data storage. The audience will learn how to store data in SSD, HDD, Tape Drive and discuss its cost, reliability & longevity. The session will help understand the pros and cons of each drive and why Tape Drive is preferred for data archives. We will learn how to use ultrafast laser optics and artificial intelligence to store data in quartz glass. We will learn to create layers of three-dimensional nanoscale gratings and deformations at various depths and angles to enable the laser to encode data in the glass. We will also understand how machine learning algorithms read the data back by decoding images and patterns that are created as polarized light shines through the glass.
