Abstract

Samsung scientists pioneered the concept of In-Storage Computing. This concept has since evolved into a product category called Computational Storage, which includes SmartSSD from Samsung. SmartSSD brings programmable acceleration to Samsung V-NAND by combining the speed and parallelism of hardware with the easy programming and deployment of software. It enables the analysis of terabytes of data within seconds, and can scale to petabytes and beyond simply by adding more devices. This talk will share early results from this device, and will invite the Flash Storage community to explore new ways of scaling data-intensive computations
