Abstract
Hardware efficiencies are essential to reducing the amount of power used by storage systems. It is of outmost importance to, first understand where the power goes and how is utilized on a storage units, then we can find where the efficiencies come in to play.
Learning Objectives
This talk will present the storage-specific topics related to energy efficiency ranging from storage hardware that influences energy consumption to capacity optimization techniques used to reduce energy consumption.
Also provided in this talk will be an overview of the SNIA EmeraldTM program measurements and metrics which can be used by IT personal in at least two ways; to understand how much energy they need for certain type of storage and how they run and to help reduce their energy footprint.
