Persistent Memory

Abstract

The traditional boundaries between memory and storage blur when applications start to rely on persistent memory to remember their data. Memory-driven computing brings together fast persistent memory, a fast memory fabric, task-specific processing, and a new software stack to address data growth and analysis challenges. Engineers from Hewlett Packard Labs will deliver highlights from work done on memory-driven computing hardware and software as part of The Machine program. We will explore data management using both traditional and non-traditional APIs. We will outline open challenges in memory-driven computing. Should persistent memory be treated as a new tier or as a replacement for traditional storage?
