Title: Identifying Ideal Applications for Database Archiving

Date: May 5, 2009, 2:00pm ET

Presenter: Jack Olson,
President and Founder of SvalTech

Duration: 45 minutes

Summary: This presentation will discuss how to build a business case for adopting database information management practices such as archiving and tiering.

We will begin by discussing how to identify the best candidate applications for archiving and tiering, and move on to reviewing analysis tools used to identify the factors that impact your decision.

Benefits such as relief of operational problems, improved performance, cost savings, and data safety are balanced against such factors as data volatility, retention requirements, accessibility requirements and others. Analysis such as these should be implemented for all database applications to determine whether database archiving is worth the effort.
