Fondest Memories of the SNIA:
As one of the key members for founding SNIA Japan Forum, I worked with other key industry members of SNIA Japan preparatory committee in 2001.
I have also been working with SNIA Japan members continuously in the activities such as publishing a book on storage networking technologies written in Japanese. This is the only one technical book on storage networking in Japan. Thus it has been revised three times till now.
Every year SNIA Japan has invited the chairperson of SNIA Board of Directors to Japan. Almost every time I met him/her in Tokyo and enjoyed talking about the latest topics on the storage technologies and storage industry.
Proudest Moments while Active with the SNIA:
I am more than happy to see that wonderful relationship has been established between SNIA and SNIA Japan forum through lots of mutual efforts.
SNIA's Greatest Achievements:
Role of data and storage is recently becoming more and more important, comparable to computation and processors. SNIA has always played a key role to disseminate the information on the most current technologies and to establish standards around storage area networking including SMIS, iSCSI, ILM, SCM, CDMI. Although the ‘I’ in SNIA refers to industry, academics like me also have understood and appreciated the importance of storage systems technologies. Many of our research projects and papers have been inspired and influenced by information and efforts from SNIA.
