Abstract

Traditional storage solutions, like the block storage or the filesystem storage, fulfilled many existing storage needs, though presented numerous disadvantages when referring to rapid growth of unstructured data.

Object Storage solutions were built to full fill this rapid growth and market needs. Among many offerings, Swift Object Storage presented itself as one of the right solutions for the eBay massive data growth, as well as for lowering the storage operational costs. It was “welcomed” at eBay, where it is being embraced for many large and business critical use cases!
