Abstract
With Samba 3.2, the smbclient command properly makes use of the multiplex ID field provided in the SMB1 protocol to speed up SMB file transfer. We have been able to demonstrate more than 700 Megabytes per second using 10GigE, so the question should be asked why SMB2 is required. This talk is aimed at client implementors and will point out ciritical aspects we found out during the implementation of the async SMB client library.
