Abstract
Intensive computational workloads are driving the need for faster and better performing storage fabrics to transport the data surge. Non-Volatile Memory Express (NVMe) and its expansion into NVMe over Fabrics has the performance, application response time and scalability needed for next-generation data centers. The INCITS T11 Committee representing the Fibre Channel industry combined the lossless, highly deterministic nature of Fibre Channel with NVMe and published a FC-NVMe standard specification so that data center managers can leverage existing Fibre Channel infrastructures. This presentation will bring attendees up-to-speed on the current FC-NVMe-2 standard which focuses on areas such as sequence error correction, queue arbitration, and command cleanup. An overview of the current Fibre Channel roadmap will also be presented.
