SOHO and Consumer Plugfest

The SNIA has added a new activity to the SDC 2009 CIFS/SMB/SMB2 plugfest to provide an open forum for vendors to test, identify, and fix bugs in a collaborative setting with the goal of providing a forum in which companies can develop interoperable products focused on the Small Office/Home Office and consumer marketplace.

"Last year, over 45 million of these devices were sold in the global marketplace and the demand from consumer and small/home office users continues to increase," said, SW Worth, member, SNIA Board of Directors. "As more consumers or small/home-office users begin to evaluate their need for storage, the ability for these devices to be interoperable and provide simplicity will be essential. This plugfest provides a valuable and very powerful forum for vendors to test their products alongside other offerings."

In addition to the plugfest, SDC will also include several sessions that focus on topics unique to the SOHO and consumer marketplace such as a presentation covering how vendors can prepare their company and products to meet the EPA ENERGY STAR® Program requirements.
