Carlsbad, Calif. Jan. 22, 2008 Dot Hill Systems Corp. (Nasdaq: HILL), a market leader in providing flexible storage offerings and responsive service and support to OEMs and system integrators (SIs), today announced it has joined two leading industry organizations aimed at promoting "green" energy- efficient IT solutions.

Dot Hill is now a member of The Green Grid, a consortium of information technology companies and professionals seeking to improve energy efficiency in data centers and business computing ecosystems. The organization is chartered to develop meaningful, platform-neutral standards, measurement methods, processes and new technologies to improve energy efficiency of global data centers. The Green Grid's scope includes collaboration with end users and government organizations worldwide to ensure that each organizational goal is aligned with both developers and users of data center technology.

Additionally, Dot Hill has also joined the Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA) Green Storage Initiative (GSI). The GSI is dedicated to advancing energy efficiency and conservation in all networked storage technologies and minimizing the environmental impact of data storage operations. The Green Storage Initiative's scope of work includes all shared storage technologies including disk and tape systems, server connectivity, storage appliances, fabrics and other storage network infrastructure, file services, and storage applications.

Through its involvement in these organizations, Dot Hill will collaborate with other leading companies on development of technologies, standards, and processes focused on greener data management and storage systems.

"Energy efficiency in the data center is one of the most significant issues facing technology providers and our customers today," said Mike Jensen, chief information architect for Dot Hill Systems. "The industry must band together in its efforts to find the means to lower energy consumption while simultaneously accommodating data growth.

"Dot Hill has been active in developing innovative storage solutions that meet key business requirements with a cost-effective and an environmentally conscious approach," Jensen continued.

Jensen pointed to Dot Hill's innovative EcoStor technology features, including its "green" battery-free alternative for cache memory, which leverages a combination of super capacitors and compact Flash that outlasts traditional batteries nearly fivefold. Business benefits include lower maintenance and disposal costs and reduced server and application down time due to scheduled battery replacement/maintenance. Jensen said Dot Hill also plans to offer customers the option to leverage more energy-efficient DC power supplies in the near future.
