HP Executive Peter Manning Appointed to Storage Networking Industry Association Board of Directors

PALO ALTO, Calif., April 3, 2012 – HP today announced that HP Storage Director of Product Management Peter Manning has been appointed to the Storage Networking Industry Association(SNIA) board of directors.

SNIA is a not-for-profit global organization. Its mission is to lead the worldwide storage industry in developing and promoting standards, technologies and educational services in the management of information. The SNIA Board oversees the organization's vision, and maintains legal and fiduciary responsibility for the association.

As a member of the board, Manning's extensive IT, storage and international market development experience will strengthen SNIA’s ability to achieve stated objectives. Through education, standards development and industry alliances, Manning will help SNIA deliver programs and activities that offer real value to the industry around cloud, solid state storage, security, green IT, and emerging areas such as big data.

Manning is an industry veteran with more than 28 years of experience in critical business, engineering and IT roles. He currently serves as Director of Product Management for HP Storage, where he is responsible for establishing the product strategy for HP Converged Storage systems and management software.

Prior to joining HP, Manning held leadership positions at EMC Corporation and charted the course for EMC’s success in storage software and solutions. A recognized business leader with a record of solidifying market leadership, he was responsible for engineering research and development, solution and training center development. Manning started his IT career at IBM’s Large Systems server business unit.

Manning holds a Master of Engineering in Systems, Computer and Software Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and earned his Bachelor of Science in Computer and Electrical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Massachusetts.
