SNIA’s Storage Management Initiative (SMI) is pleased to announce that SNIA Swordfish® has achieved yet another key milestone with the publication of Swordfish v1.2.4a by ISO/IEC as ISO/IEC 5965:2023. The new ISO/IEC-published version replaces ISO/IEC 5695:2021, most notably with the addition of functionality to manage NVMe® and NVMe-oF™. With this ISO/IEC publication, Swordfish gains additional credibility and trust, making it easier for businesses to adopt and integrate the standard into their storage environments. This achievement reinforces SNIA and SMI's commitment to advancing industry standards and driving innovation in storage technologies.
“ISO/IEC international publication brings interoperability confidence to vendors implementing this standard management interface,” said Richelle Ahlvers, Vice Chair, SNIA Board of Directors, and SNIA Storage Management Initiative Chair. “The NVMe and NVMe-oF functionality added in ISO/IEC 5965:2023 provides significant capability enhancements for the management of data centers at scale.”
Swordfish ISO/IEC 5965:2023 features new support for:
SNIA’s SMI provides other programs to support and enhance the Swordfish and ISO/IEC specifications, including the SM Lab and SNIA Swordfish Conformance Test Program. The SM Lab provides an environment for interoperability testing, and the Swordfish CTP program provides vendor-neutral validation conformance to the specification.
