New NVMe-oF Drive Specification Version 1.0.1 wins in Industry Standards category

SANTA CLARA, CA – November 11, 2020 – The Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA) Object Drive Technical Work Group (TWG) was honored with the Flash Memory Summit 2020 Best of Show Award for Most Innovative Flash Memory Technology at today’s Flash Memory Summit 2020 Awards ceremony.

Flash Memory Summit, the world’s largest and most prestigious storage industry conference and exposition recognizes the SNIA’s NVMe-oF Drive Specification Version 1.0.1 in the industry standards category for addressing new levels of storage performance, scalability, and connectivity.

“Enterprise data centers are moving to NVMe / NVMe-oF™ technology to address new levels of storage performance, scalability, connectivity, and services,” said Jay Kramer, Chairman of the Awards Program and President of Network Storage Advisors Inc. “We are proud to recognize SNIA and their Object Drive TWG for their development of the SNIA Native NVMe-oF Drive Standard Version 1.0.1 defining the interfaces to Ethernet-connected storage devices, and describing how to discover and configure the drives, their interfaces, the speeds, and management capabilities.”

"SNIA has standardized the interface for a new type of Ethernet based drive,” said Mark Carlson, SNIA Object Drive TWG co-chair. “The SNIA Native NVMe-oF Drive standard, created by the Object Drive Technical Work Group defines Ethernet pins for use with existing SFF standardized connectors. The drives are expected to implement NVMe-oF over standard Ethernet networks,” said Bill Martin, SNIA Objective Drive TWG co-chair.

According to show organizers, a record number of award submissions were received this year making the judging challenging and each of the categories extremely competitive.
