How Developers Participate In The SNIA-CTP

SNIA-CTP Workgroups
Obtaining The Test Suite
Entering Bugs

Join The Relevant SNIA And SNIA-CTP Workgroups

Certain SNIA member work groups will be very beneficial for developers. These groups are places where birds of a feather share information.

Participation in the groups that are reccommended will require your company to be a member of the SNIA.

The most beneficial group to help you reach success is the SMI Lab. The SMI Lab is a program that connects you with your peers. The lab is composed of member companies that have agreed to provide equipment and knowledge to the group as a whole to further all the participants success.

    SNIA-CTP Subcommittee

Join the Subcommittee - SNIA-CTP . This is the subcommittee that has an overall view of what is going on with the business of the SNIA-CTP. Important SNIA-CTP items that are covered in this group include:

    • Updates To The Regular Tuesday, 10:00 A.M. Eastern Bug Meeting
    • Subgroups With Focuses Upon Special Test Situations
    • Updates To SNIA-CTP Participation At Symposiums

Follow the map below to take you to the subcommittee's page. Once at the page, you request to join the group. An e-mail will automatically be sent to the subcommittee chair who will then authorize you for membership in the gourp if all of the proper conditions are met.

Click here to be taken to the location of this workgroup and request to join.

OR follow these simple instructions to be taken to the Subcommittee - SNIA-CTP location.

Click on the "Members" Tab on the top navigation zone.
Click on the Committees, Forums, and Work Groups link in the left-hand navigation bar.
Find the link to the "Committee: Interoperability" in the Avaiable Group listing.
Click on the link to the "Subcommittee: SNIA-CTP" under the Interoperability Committee.
Enter a request to join this group.

    Obtain The SNIA-CTP Test Suite

The SMI-Provider test has two different types of releases. The first type is the "interim" release. This type of release is used to work the kinks out. It is made available so that users may work with the test as it is undergoing development. This cooperation helps the CTP Program team debug the test as well as allow the users of the test to be aware of the testing that will occur.

The second type of release is an "official" release. These are releases which have been approved for official test use by the various governing committess associated with SMI.

Many SMI Test interim and official releases are available using several different methods. These methods depend upon whether you are an SNIA member and if you are a member, whether or not you have joined the SMI Lab.

SMI Lab members can obtain the test from the SMI Lab reflector as a part of being in the lab. Note that the ability to use the SMI Lab reflector will automatically be removed at the end of the SMI Lab.

SNIA members who are not participating in the SMI Lab will need to contact the SNIA-CTP Administrator for access to the test suites.

Companies and people who are not members of the SNIA can obtain the test from the SNIA-CTP Administrator after the appropriate forms have been completed and fees have been paid.

Entering Bugs You Have Found In Mantis

The SNIA-CTP program team strives to improve the test release for coverage and quality.

SNIA members using the test suite are encouraged to enter any bugs they have found in the Mantis Bug Tracking system. You first need to have the ability to access Mantis to enter bugs. Click here to go to Mantis to register to use the system.
