About the SNIA Cloud Object Storage Test Tools TWG:
The SNIA Cloud Object Storage (COS) Test Tools Technical Work Group (TWG) expedites multi-vendor interoperability collaboration among cloud storage developers, architects and test support engineers, to enhance customer experience of popular COS APIs, including AWS S3, Google Cloud Storage, and Azure Blob.
- In this video (on the right), Adam Gray (IBM Cloud), Ric Wheeler (Versity) and Matt Benjamin (IBM Ceph) explain how the TWG is commissioned to research, develop and publish multi-vendor interoperability COS test software.
- Problem statement: de facto standards like S3 have proliferated rapidly across client applications, hybrid, cloud, and multi-cloud deployments, as well as within on-prem compute, resulting in a massive increase in the number of multi-vendor configuration opportunities.
- The TWG helps developers automate cost effective multi-vendor interoperability testing, by leveraging industry wide investments to meet end-customer demand for rapid innovation AND flawless / seamless S3 multi-vendor interoperability (regardless of which vendor provides the service).

What We Do
The mission for the SNIA COS Test Tools TWG is to build a common set of industry test tools, which help build industry consensus around best practice and automate interoperability testing. SNIA's COS Test Tools software and methods will be released via open source to the global community, and vetted in our ongoing SNIA COS Plugfest events (open to all industry COS contributors). We completed our 2nd SNIA COS Plugfest in April ‘25, and are now preparing our 3rd SNIA COS Plugfest during SNIA Developer Conference (SDC’25) on Sept, 15-17, in Santa Clara, CA. Join us at SDC’25, where the COS Plugfest Community will...
- Reduce support cost, eliminate bugs, drive industry consistency, and make it easier for storage platforms to quickly add new customer config support and revenue
- Eliminate barriers to attain any-to-any interoperability between multi-vendor platforms
- Resolve API behavioral gaps and inconsistencies between multi-vendor implementations, as well as enhance and accelerate cloud storage reliability, stability, supportability, and interoperability

If you have any questions or need anything, please email us at askcloudplugfest@snia.org.
For Contributors Specifically Requesting to Join the SNIA COS Test Tools TWG
- SNIA membership is required to join the SNIA COS Test Tools TWG (your company must be a SNIA member).
- Typically, active contributors within the SNIA COS Test Tools TWG are the primary COS API experts within their company (or within their COS product portfolio offerings), and are actively participating in SNIA COS Plugfest events and low level technical issue resolution discussions.
